Always it happens that you want to go on a holiday but you’re not sure where you want to go. There are so many countries, regions, cities and towns in the world that just making this simple decision can be a bit overwhelming for some.
Firstly, think about what you want to achieve from this holiday and write it down. Maybe you want to come back completely relaxed, or you want to see as much as you can with the time you have, or maybe you want to learn more about something that really interests you.
Once you know what it is you what to achieve from this holiday you can start thinking about destinations that meet these needs. Here are a few examples:
- If you’re looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday, you’re not going to choose a big city, you’ll choose an island, beach or secluded mountain location that lets you completely relax.
- Maybe you hate the idea of spending days laying around relaxing and prefer to be more on the go and make the most of your time. Then choose a destination with lots to see and do, a big city maybe or a whole region where you can move from place to place exploring.
- What if you want the best of both worlds? South East Asia, Australia or Southern Europe for example, are perfect places to relax while still having lots to keep you busy when you feel like it.
Also here are some tips to help you choose the holiday destination:
- Priorities – Think it through. Before you get all excited and head onto the web to find your dream holiday, you do need to think about what kind of vibe you're going for here.
- Analyze the risks. You could be planning on going to the most beautiful place imaginable, but if it isn't safe, then is it really worth the risk? Even then, if you decide to go ahead with it, make sure you don't stay in a bad neighbourhood because trouble can easily happen if you're looking for accommodation on a budget.
- Don’t Overthink It - Simplify Things. Don't look too hard to try and find the negative reviews, don't pick up on things that you wouldn't care about in everyday life, and don't let the average price of a milkshake throw you off the scent. That can only lead to arguments in your own head, and as we've said a thousand times now, this is supposed to be fun.
- Research - Scour Social Media and Ask Around. Researching holidays is a process that's changed dramatically over the years, and that's hardly a secret. Instead of trying to find a brochure, internet can help you to figure out where they want to spend your time off.
- Outside The Box - Be Different. You could perhaps go to a second city or a bargain four-star resort, because not only would it be cheaper, but it would also make it feel like more of an adventure. You'd be able to tell people about a destination that few others can claim to have gone to, and on top of that, these kinds of trips almost always end up being a blast.
- Trust Your Instincts - Go For It. You know yourself better than anyone, and if your instincts are telling you to go somewhere in particular, then listen to them. The worst case scenario is that it doesn't quite live up to your expectations and you don't go there again, but you need to trust yourself.
- Set A Budget. One of the most important things you could possibly do prior to a holiday, regardless of whether or not you know where you're going, is set a budget. You need to decide how much you're willing to spend on everything: from the flights to the accommodation. Once you've got that sorted you'll be able to actually start looking up possible destinations but until then, you may as well be in a dream.
Once you follow these tips, you will be able to choose your holiday destination more easily. Always remember that TRAVEL IS AN INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF.
